If only I could sing...

The Sing Off tv show photo

For anyone who hasn't heard off or watched The Sing Off, you have to check it out! It is an American Idol type show, but with incredibly talented groups of people. They cover songs with only theirs voices, and every time I watch, I wish I was not musically challenged!

It is in it's third season, and is really getting good. The first two seasons were only about 6 weeks long, and was usually over the holidays. This year they made a full season out of it, and so far it is AWESOME!

Happy Hour

Today was one of my days off from work, I work 4 10s so I get a random day of during the week, which is usually Thursday. I love having a break from the week, but it is quickly become my least productive day. Without Nate around I tend to sleep in a little later, then I am willing to admit, and very rarely get anything of note done.

So today after getting a pedicure and going to the library to get some new books, I found myself on the couch watching tv (or as I like to call it cleaning the tivo), with my favorite drink in hand, the famous(at least to us) OC Ice Tea.

The OC Ice tea comes from one of our favorite restaurants, Old Chicagos. We originally were hunting for the recipe so we could have their version of the Long Island Ice Tea at our wedding. By the time the wedding came around, we still hadn't mastered it, and let the bartenders come up with one for us. It was delicious, and strong enough to take down 3 of 4 bridesmaids, but it was no OC Ice Tea. After almost a year of trying, it turns out that you HAVE to have the exact sour mix they use to make it work. Lucky for us our local alcohol superstore was happy to order us a case. We of course bought it and have been enjoying ever since. In case anyone is tempted with this yummy cocktail-

OC Ice Tea
1 ounce Vanilla Vodka
1 ounce Orange Vodka
1 ounce Raspberry Vodka
3 ounces Oceanspray sour bar mixer
splash of Coke

Be careful they are tasty but strong!

Cheers!

Meet the Phillips

Hello all!

For those of you that are not fully acquainted with the Phillips family let me give you a brief overview.

My husband Nathan and I have been married for almost a year, and we are loving married life so far. He is a busy guy working as an HVAC tech all over Denver. He is the ultimate handy man, and keeps everything from computers to cars working around the house. He is from South Dakota and Michigan, so he is a country boy at heart.

Macy is our first dog and craziest! When I say our first dog, I really should say HIS first dog. Nate got Macy as a pup while we were dating.  Seeing that pointers are not as popular in CO as they are in SD, I knew very little about them(If I did I would have tried to stop him). For those of you that aren't familiar with the breed, they have a well deserved reputation. Lets just say when we show up at the dog park, we get the same looks as parents with a screaming child at the grocery store.  Now with that said, pointers are my favorite! They are crazy, smart, crazy, energetic, entertaining, and crazy a few more times!

Tucker is MY dog. Out of necessity he will acknowledge Nate when: Nate is eating some delicious, when he is cold, or when he is hungry. Tuck is the best dog! He is quiet, mellow, and most importantly cute! My mom gets all of the credit for finding him. We were looking for a small dog to keep crazypants company, and she found him in a animal shelter in Big Pine, CA. We still can't figure out how he ended up there, but lucky us. He is a little scruffy terrier mix, and we have no idea what kind.

Our other temporary family member is, Lindy. She is a GSP we are fostering. She is a sweet little thing. She is a dryer sheet in the form of a dog. If she could have it her way she would be within 3 inches of a human being every moment of her life. She was found as a stray somewhere in Utah, and lived at a kennel for 5 months before our rescue picked her up. I don't have a picture yet and hopefully she will be in her new home by the weekend. Just in time for us to get another one!

Thanks for stopping by!
Talk to you soon!
